“in order that as sin
has exercised kingly sway in inflicting death, so GRACE, too, may exercise
KINGLY SWAY in bestowing a righteousness which results in the Life of the Ages
through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom 5:21 Weymouth N.T
“KINGLY SWAY“ refers to Kingly power, dominion, influence,
authority, and command. The Much More
Abounding Grace of Jesus Christ has the Divine “KINGLY SWAY” of power,
dominion, influence, authority, and command in bestowing righteousness unto LIFE and not condemnation or judgment unto death. (Heb 1:3 , Isaiah 43:25)
Here are some New Covenant scriptures that speak of the power
of The “Kingly sway” OF GOD’S GREAT GRACE and how it brings righteousness, forgiveness
of sins and the very Life of Christ unto all mankind. In summary The “Kingly
sway” OF GOD’S GREAT GRACE speaks to the Good News that God’s Great Grace
reigns through righteousness (through the righteous obedience, redeeming and
reconciling work of the Second Adam Jesus Christ) unto eternal life by Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:21 (KJV) - That as sin hath reigned
unto death, even so might grace reign (R.F. have the “KINGLY SWAY”) through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord
Romans 6:14 (KJV) - For sin shall not have
dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace (R.F. under “THE
KINGLY SWAY OF GRACE”)
Through Adam’s act of rebellion, disobedience and sin all men
stand under the power of sin and the corresponding judgment of death “many died through one man’s (Adam’s) trespass”.
Romans 5:15 But the free gift is not like the
trespass. For if many died through one
man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift (of
righteousness) by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
Believer – Christ Jesus is Lord and He is our God and King. Jesus rules in righteousness, His
Righteousness, His Kingly Sway of purging us of our sins (once and for all
time) we now as Believers in Christ reign in righteousness, we now reign in
Life! We now reign as kings in His
Righteousness even the Righteousness of God!
Romans 5:17 (Amplified Bible) - For if because of one man’s
trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will
those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift
of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings
in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Great scriptures on Christ our King -
Hebrews 1:3 (KJV) - Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
Psa 45:6 - Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A
scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
John 8:1-11 gives us the story of woman caught
in adultery and in it we can see the power of the Kingly Sway of God’s Great
Grace at work (demonstrated) -
John 8:1-11 (KJV) – 1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple,
and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman
taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in
adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be
stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to
accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as
though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself,
and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a
stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own
conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last:
and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the
woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man
condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, neither
do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
From this story of the women caught in adultery we can see the
demonstration of “The Kingly Sway of God’s Great Grace” , Christ as God who –
“blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy
sins.”
Isaiah 43:25 (KJV) - I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy
transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
Graciousness –
Believer, I love the word graciousness in the bible. It is good news to know that The Lord Who is
gracious has bent down and stooped in kindness towards us who were; without
strength, the weaker and the inferior and through His righteous obedient act
has brought unto all mankind righteousness, reconciliation, remission of sins
and justification to life.
Scripture on Graciousness:
Psa 145:8 - The LORD is GRACIOUS (full of compassion, favorable, merciful,
showing – having favor, pity, mercy, having pity) and slow to anger, and of
great mercy.
The word graciousness per Strong’s dictionary -
Strong’s Concordance tells us that the word for GRACIOUS in
the original Hebrew is: channûwn, pronounced
“khan-noon” and come from tchânan, pronounced “khaw-nan” which means to bend or
stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; move to favor by petition, (be,
find, shew) favour(-able), be (deal, give, grant (gracious(-ly), entreat, (be)
merciful, have (shew) mercy (on, upon), have pity upon, to pray for, to make
supplication for, to beseech, to be fair.
Christ demonstrated HIS GRACIOUSNESS unto the woman caught
in adultery in not condemning her of her sin. Also, something not often
mentioned but Christ even demonstrated His graciousness to her accusers who
were unable to cast the first stone because they too were “with sin”– as the
scripture notes: they left on their own accord “being convicted by their
own conscience”. Jesus did publicly condemn the accusers of their
sin.
It was Christ Jesus our King who bent down (stooped down)
and took upon himself the form of a man (was made flesh) and actually
demonstrated His GRACIOUSNESS unto us through His work of redemption and
reconciliation on the cross in his death, burial and resurrection. The
obedience of Christ in stooping down in His Graciousness has brought
the free gift of righteousness and justification to life to all mankind.
Let us receive and partake of this free gift by faith in Christ. The Good
News (Word of Reconciliation, Ministry of Reconciliation) is: “God is not
counting men’s trespasses against them”.
2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God,
who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the
ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling
the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath
committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:21(NKJV) - For He made Him who knew
no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of
God in Him.
Christ stooping down and
taking upon Himself humanity
Paul speaks of Christ stooping down and taking upon
Himself humanity as a demonstration of His Love towards us in Philippians
2:6-11 (KJV) - 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be
equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form
of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion
as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of
the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name
which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God
the Father.
Prayer: May you be strengthened and rejoice in
thanksgiving over the Power, love and Mercy demonstrated unto you by our Lord
Jesus Christ in the “Kingly Sway of God’s Great Grace.” Amen.
